UV transmission filters may be used in illumination systems as well as in fluorescence applications that need to transmit the UV energy and blocking most of visible light. Different from traditional filters use color glasses, one of the unique feature is that rejected light is reflected instead of absorbing, resulting in lower autofluorescence and improved heat tolerance. Intense UV radiation sometimes cause a permanent reduction in the transmission of color glasses. Asahi UV transmission filters are designed for isolating broad bands of UVA, UVB, and the combination of UVA and UVB while maintaining high transmittance properties, averaging 70-85% over the bands specified.
